Followers of Pythagoras created the mathematical formula known as the “Golden Ratio”, which creates a visceral balance and harmony within. From inception, the Golden Ratio is at the foundation of all humane design. It remains as useful today as it was when it was established in 300 BCE.
The Golden Ratio is based on the human form and its inherent proportions. It is a formalization of a deeply intuitive harmony, and dictates the shapes and sizes that feel comfortable and natural, resonant and related to us. I discovered the academic definitions of the Golden Ratio many years after I had been intuitively applying it to everything I conceptualized.
